Reuben Coulter
Founder & Managing Partner
Reuben Coulter works at the highest levels of impact capital — advising families, foundations, and institutions who believe that wealth, strategically deployed, can be one of the most powerful engines of community transformation.
His central thesis is one whose time has come: that the most durable response to deprivation — whether in an inner-city neighbourhood in Bristol or a rural community in Sub-Saharan Africa — is not the alleviation of poverty but the creation of abundance. Real transformation happens when business and investment become intentional engines of inclusive economic growth; when capital works alongside local government, faith communities, civic institutions, and social enterprises to build a shared vision for a place and mobilise every resource toward it.
This is not theoretical for Reuben. He has spent nearly two decades building the practice across disciplines, asset classes, and geographies. Before founding Ignis, Reuben held senior leadership roles across the international development sectors. At the World Economic Forum, he engaged multinational corporations and governments at ministerial level on the Grow Africa agricultural initiative and the Africa Jobs Initiative — shaping the policy and investment frameworks required to unlock inclusive economic development at continental scale. As CEO of Transformation Business Network and Tearfund, he led these organisations through growth seasons to increase their impact across Africa and Asia.
As a strategic advisor, he has journeyed with a portfolio of pioneering impact funds from inception through to growth: Impactable, an institutional-scale emerging market private credit platform; Wellers Impact, an innovative real estate vehicle unlocking non-profits assets; Kinrise, a UK commercial real estate investor transforming iconic buildings into workplaces that renew cities, Bristol City Fund, that focuses on place-based transformation; and Living Hope VC, a faith-driven European venture fund. Across each, he has helped leadership teams build the strategy, partnerships, and investor relationships required to scale.
This breadth is not incidental. Reuben's distinctive contribution is systemic: he combines strategic and policy thinking with multi-stakeholder engagement to build the conditions in which capital can flow sustainably toward the world's most critical challenges.
